Legal person

Further to a sudden change in the .RU Registry registration policy, every holder of a .RU domain name is now required to provide supporting documents to evidence their identity. If you hold a domain name registered under a legal person name (company) , one of the following document is required:

  • A certificate of registration or,
  • an excerpt from the commercial register

More generally any official document confirming that the holder of this domain name is a legal entity duly registered in its state of incorporation.

Please note that website copies or screenshots are not considered as a valid document.

In order to provide this document, please process as follow:

  1. Go to the following address: https://www.nic.ru/en/manager
  2. Login to your account(s) using your login names:
  3. Click on the 'update information' link
  4. Then click on the 'upload a document' link framed by a red square
  5. Select your document by clicking on the 'browse...' button
  6. Click on the 'upload' button

Login name: Only type in the the number of your handle without the 'Nic-D' part

If you have lost your password, please request one using the following link https://www.nic.ru/en/cgi/pass_forgot.cgi

Important: Please be aware that the recovery email can take up to 6 hours to be sent by the Registry.

You are done, you have just secured your .RU domain name!

Notice: failure to provide this document will automatically conduct to the deletion of your domain name by the .RU Registry, which means that it will be available for registration by any third party.

Individual

If you hold a domain name registered under a natural person name (individual) , one of the following document is required:

  • A passport copy, or
  • an ID card copy

Please note that the documents have to be readable, personal details and date of issue have to be obvious.

In order to provide this document, please process as follow:

  1. Go to the following address: https://www.nic.ru/en/manager
  2. Login to your account(s) using your login names:
  3. Click on the 'update information' link
  4. Then click on the 'upload a document' link framed by a red square
  5. Select your document by clicking on the 'browse...' button
  6. Click on the 'upload' button

Login name: Only type in the the number of your handle without the 'Nic-D' part

Important note for organizations and individuals: Each domain name is attached its own handle (NIC-D number) , e.g. if you hold two domain names, you will receive two different NIC-D numbers no matter the fact that the handle details are the same.
