Domain Extension .CM opens at EuroDNS!

Article by: EuroDNS  |  Posted on: 2009-06-11 15:34:45
EuroDNS is glad to announce the opening of the .CM Sunrise phase on June 15th 2009 at 9:00 UTC until July 14th 2009 at 23:59:59 UTC.  .CM is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for the Republic of Cameroon. The Sunrise period allows all trademark owners to register at the earliest stage and thus protect their brand name in the .CM extension.

Xavier Buck, CEO of EuroDNS explains “We are proud to be part of the launch of the .CM extension. Central Africa does not provide many domain name extensions and this is a great opportunity to expand one’s portfolio. Another advantage is that people often forget to type the ‘o’ when looking for a .com domain name, and having your domain name in .CM could secure a lot of traffic and avoid any misleading use of your name”.  The launch of .CM is also a key initiative in the battle against poverty in Africa. Indeed, for each domain sold, a certain percentage will go the foundation “Flowers in the Desert”. The .CM will also contribute to the development of Internet and e-commerce on the African market and push its expansion.

During the Sunrise phase, the minimum registration period is 2 years and applicants must hold a valid and issued trademark at the time of application. If there is more than one valid Sunrise application for the same domain name, the name will be awarded to the registrant with the oldest registered trademark.
Each domain application costs 360 EUR with a non-refundable fee of 60 EUR, including a two years term.

The registry will then open the Landrush period from July 15th, 2009, 0:00:01 UTC until July 31st, 2009, 0:00:01 UTC, during which all applications will be subjected to a premium fee and an auction system, with a minimum registration time of 2 years. Indeed, in case there is more than one application per domain, the domain will go into an auction system that will be held shortly after the end of the Landrush period.
The price for each domain name application will be 260 EUR, including a two years term.
The Go Live will begin on August 1st, 2009 at 0:00:01 UTC. At this point .CM domains can be registered on a first come, first served basis. The minimum registration term is 1 year and the price will be announced soon. The price for the each Go Live registration is 80 EUR.

Czech Arbitration Court Ready to Handle CO.NL Doma

Article by: EuroDNS  |  Posted on: 2009-05-06 09:19:37
Amsterdam/Prague May 6th – After the successful launch of the .CO.NL extension, the CO.NL Operator is proud to announce that the Czech Arbitration Court (CAC) now provides Dispute Resolution for CO.NL Domains through its Online Dispute Resolution Platform.

“.CO.NL always intended to provide a credible alternative while ensuring third-party rights are respected in the name space”, comments Sander Scholten, General Manager, “Our Grandfather and Sunrise periods were designed to allow .nl domain name holders and trademark holders to secure their names on a priority basis and we believe CAC’s support is another major step in ensuring potential disputes are now dealt with in the most effective way”.  The Czech Arbitration Court was chosen in 2005 by the European Commission to act as sole Alternative Dispute Resolution Provider for .EU Domain Names and was recently appointed as a Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy provider (UDRP) by ICANN. Under the mutual understanding between CAC and the .CO.NL Operator, disputes involving domain names bearing the “.co.nl” ending will be dealt with using CAC’s modern online platform, and rulings will be based on UDRP rules similar to those of the .EU Domains.

“CAC is proud to welcome CO.NL domain names on its new UDRP platform” comments Zbynek Loebl, manager  of UDRP project of the Czech Arbitration Court “the proven UDRP process is perfect to deal with any potential dispute under CO.NL and our professional panellists are excited to deal with this new challenge”.  The Go Live phase has opened on the 15th April and allows the general public to register any .CO.NL without restrictions or priority rights. The applications are accepted on a first come, first served basis and a local presence in the Netherlands is not required.

To have more information about the UDRP process, go to:  http://www.adr.eu/
For more information on the .CO.NL Operator, please contact us at info@domain.co.nl or go to http://www.domain.co.nl/.

About the operator:

About the Czech Arbitration Court

The Czech Arbitration Court is a Not for Profit Organisation based in Prague and attached to the Economic Chamber of the Czech Republic and Agricultural Chamber of the Czech Republic.  Established in 1949, CAC’s services include the resolution of domestic and international commercial disputes, with special emphasis on Internet-related disputes.

EuroDNS will be part of the fifth Domain Roundtable conference as a Silver Sponsor. This high profile event will be held at the Grand Hyatt Washington in Washington DC on June 14-17th 2009.

Domain Roundtable is an annual conference focusing on domain names and new products, technologies and companies in the domain marketplace. The conference brings together serious players in the domain industry, allowing new and veteran domainers the opportunity to converse with like-minded peers and create an awareness of current industry trends from the people who are setting them.

Xavier Buck, CEO of EuroDNS, comments “Domain Roundtable has always been a core event for domainers and gives the opportunity to tackle major topics regarding the Domain Name Industry, such as an overview of the market and technology trends or how to increase the domain’s value. We are proud to be one of the major sponsors”.

This year's theme is Reaching Beyond: Shaping our Future Together.  Domain Roundtable will offer those, both inside and outside the domain industry, a chance to discuss the future of domaining. By reaching beyond the borders of the domain industry, conference attendees will be exposed to a host of critical issues facing the future of the industry; thus allowing us to outline a path that will lead us into the next chapter of domaining.

For more information on the event, please go here: http://www.domainroundtable.com/

Why People should attend DRT:
Domain Roundtable has chosen to host the conference in the middle of where many decisions are made, the capital of the United States. Being in this location is providing us opportunities to talk to decision makers about your opinions and views.  There will be ample time for networking and to “pick” the brains of other attendees on how to take domaining into the future.  The conference will also have thought-provoking content with new faces on the panels sharing new ideas!

.MX pre-registration phase opening May 1st

Article by: EuroDNS  |  Posted on: 2009-04-21 14:08:59
EuroDNS is glad to announce the start of the .mx pre-registration phase on the 1st of May 2009, during which all .mx subdomains such as .com.mx or .edu.mx will have registration priority for their corresponding .mx domain Name.

.mx is the first top level domain for Mexico, and it has just been re-opened by NIC Mexico to allow new registrations. The .mx extension is a great opportunity to open a new market in Mexico.

Xavier Buck, CEO of EuroDNS explains, “the reopening of the .mx is great news and the registry has published 3 different stages to register your .mx directly. Another interesting change is that, as of September 1, 2009, everyone eligible to register a .MX domain name will be entitled to register .MX domains at the second level.”

The Pre-Registration period will start on May 1 until July 31, 2009. During this phase, only the people who have registered before March 1st 2009 a so called “domain of origin”: com.mx, .net.mx, .org.mx, .edu.mx, or .gob.mx, can apply for the corresponding .mx domain name. The domain names already registered before May 1 will be blocked during this phase, which means they cannot be deleted or transferred.

All registrations during this phase will be for one year and cost 44 Euros.

The Waiting Period Phase will start on August 1 to 31. During the waiting stage, no new request will be received and only the pending requests will be processed. It will be possible to check requests from the first stage at www.whois.mx.

At the end of the waiting phase, the .mx domains assigned will be activated and the domains registered before March 1, previously blocked from being transferred or deleted, will be unblocked.

From September 1 to October 31 2009, the Initial Period of Registration will take place, during which any eligible person or organization interested can request a .mx domain name. A “first come, first served” basis will apply and the registration period will be for one year.
