Registration requests under the Norwegian TLD .No are sometimes difficult to fulfill due to the strict regulations of the Registry. From February 15, 2011 onwards, revised Terms and Conditions of Registration applicable for .SE-domains will be implemented.

.SE will be introducing updated conditions of registration (Terms and Conditions of Registration applicable for the top-level domain .se from February 15, 2011) for the purpose of simplifying and clarifying the rules and regulations. The new Terms and Conditions of Registration contain new wording concerning alternative dispute-solution procedures (item 7) as well as a clarification in item 9 concerning the handling of personal data.

The new Terms and Conditions of Registration will be in force from February 15, 2011 and will apply to all registered domain names under the .se top-level domain.

.SO Sunrise Is Open at EuroDNS

Luxembourg, November 16th, 2010 – EuroDNS is glad to announce that the Sunrise phase for the new .SO extension was successfully opened and is still available until November 30th, 2010.

.SO is a new extension for Internet domain names that will open a brand new Internet gateway with great flexibility. Indeed customers will be able to benefit from .SO domain names without any local presence restriction or any limitation on the number of domain names registered by a given individual or company.

.SO is the Country Code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) for The Republic of Somalia. The technical operator of .SO is the Japanese company GMO Registry while the “sponsoring organisation” of the ccTLD is the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications of Somalia. GMO registry will be donating a portion of the operating profit to provide necessary aide for Somalia targeting children more specifically.

As for other domain name extensions, the .SO registration process is divided in various phases. The Sunrise period, currently held for trademark holders, is open until November 30th, 2010, to give applicants the opportunity to register their brands as .SO names before the system is open to the general public.

The Sunrise period will benefit from the expertise of The IP Clearing House. This independent entity will validate customers’ requests based on their trademark registrations registries, following their submission using the usual EuroDNS.com interface. To be considered as part of the Sunrise Phase, the Trademark must be fully registered by January 1st, 2010.

The Sunrise is not operated on the basis of the first come first served principle but will be followed by a Sunrise Auction Period opening on December 1st where all credible Sunrise applications submitted during the Sunrise Period will be able to bid against other Trademark applicants. This process will be held between December 1st and 15th, 2010 through the Pool.com service.

Sunrise domain names may be registered for a minimum of three years and a maximum of ten years.

Following the Sunrise phase, the .SO Landrush phase will open on December 16th, 2010 and last till February 9th, 2011. The Landrush Period was designed to allow companies and private individuals from all over the world to obtain the very '.SO' domain name they want as soon as possible, in exchange of a premium fee.

As per the Sunrise phase the Landrush is not operated on the basis of the first come, first served principle. Instead a Landrush Auction Period will open on February 10th, 2011 where all identical .SO Domain Names applications submitted during the Landrush Period will be able to bid against one or more applicants for the same .SO Domain Name.

Following the Landrush Auction Period, the Open Registration will be open to everyone on a first-come, first-served basis without any specific requirement. Open Registration starts on March 1st, 2011.

Both Landrush and Open Registration domain names may be registered for a minimum of one year and a maximum of ten years.

.SO domain names must be made up of a minimum of 3 characters and a maximum of 63 characters (excluding the extension). Only the Latin alphabet letters a-z, digits, and hyphens will be accepted. Domain names beginning or ending with hyphens, as well as domain names with hyphens on the third and fourth position are prohibited. The policy for the TLD .SO is liberal, there are no restrictions concerning the registrants, no local presence service is needed.

Standard Sunrise Registration Price is 75 €. If you wish to Register several domain names based on the same trademark information, the validation fee decreases to 50 € for the second domain using the same trademark.

Customers who have obtained a CHIP code for a TM already validated in the Clearing House, see the price decrease to 12 €. All Sunrise Prices are on top of a 3-years Registration fee of 132 €.

Each domain name registration during the Landrush and Go Live onwards will cost 18 €.
