We would like to inform you that a large number of .IT domain holders have received letters from another entity, the so-called "Registro italiano in Internet per le imprese", which, through surface-mail mailings proposes a contract to adhere to in order to receive a service after payment.

The Institute of Informatics and Telematics of the CNR and the ccTLD .it Registry are not in the least involved with this initiative and they prepared again the necessary actions to protect any rights that might have been infringed. The Italian Competition Authorities (http://www.agcm.it) has repeatedly issued fines - for analogous initiatives as case in point of misleading messages - against DAD Deutscher Adressdienst.

Please be aware that a number of .BE holders have received false payment reminders for the registration of domain names.

These reminders come from the company NMG (Network Mediagroup) located in London. They have the appearance of a real invoice and imply that the .BE holder has also registered his domain name with them in a number of other extensions (for example .net/.org/.com), and ask for quick payment.

Please ignore these reminders, but if you think these extensions are interesting to you, please contact us or check if the name is available.

Luxembourg 11th January – The .tel Sunrise period is getting close to an end, on February 2nd, and the Premium Landrush will then take over from the 3rd February until the 23rd March 2009. The Sunrise period, reserved to trademark owners only and handled on a first-come, first-served basis, has been a real success and pre-registrations are also still available for the Premium Landrush and Go Live periods at www.eurodns.com. Register your .tel now for the Go Live period and get 20% off on the annual fee, using the promocode: TEL20, valid until the 1st March 2009. The Sunrise period enables trademark owners to register the .tel domain name corresponding to their trademark. All the application are subjected to validation from Deloitte and registrations carry a minimum three year term at a set up price of 290 Euros, followed by an extra 18 Euros each year.

On November 18th it became possible to register .co.nl domain names, and until January 15th all current .NL domain names holders will be granted priority to secure the corresponding .co.nl domain.

The registration of .co.nl domains will be done in 3 steps. During the first Sunrise phase, named “Grandfather”, each holder of a .NL domain has the right to register an identical .CO.NL domain. Hence, the holder of www.yourdomain.nl is the only one who can register www.yourdomain.co.nl during these 8 weeks. The Grandfather period ends on January 15th and so will the right on priority.
A 16 days Sunrise phase will then follow the “Grandfather” period and provide priority for trademark holders, from any trademark registry worldwide.

On March 17th, CO.NL will open up completely and anyone will be able to register their name.co.nl without any restriction or need to establish previous right.
 
The standard price of a .co.nl domain registration is 14 euro at EuroDNS. During the Sunrise phases all domain applications will need to be checked by an independent validation agent (Deloitte) and a surcharge will apply on top of this standard price.

During the Grandfather period you will have the best chance to claim the .co.nl domains that match your .nl names. Hence, if you’re interested in securing your names with the .co.nl ending we recommend that you register these during this period. Applications can now be submitted in your standard EuroDNS account. Dear Customer,

We are glad to announce the official CO.NL registration dates and prices for the Grandfather, Trademark Sunrise, Landrush and Go Live periods, which are also available at www.eurodns.com.

The CO.NL extension, which was announced last June, offers new possibilities for companies and individuals to get larger visibility and great international impact, with a Dutch flavor.

The CO.NL space is open to anyone, with no requirement of local presence or tie with the Netherlands. Several steps have been taken to ensure protection of third parties’ rights: if you currently have .NL Domain Names in your EuroDNS account, you can benefit from the dedicated Grandfather period.

But Grandfather is only the first part of the CO.NL Trademark proctection scheme, which goes as follows:

A Grandfather period, from the 18th November to the 15th January, which provides the holders of a “.nl” domain name a temporarily and exclusive right to register the same name with a “.CO.NL” ending. The set up fee for a domain name registered during Grandfather is 90 Euros in addition to 14 Euros per year (2 years minimum).

A Sunrise period is held for trademark holders, from the 10th February until the 26th February 2009, to give applicants the opportunity to register their brands as CO.NL names before the system is open to the general public.  A Trademark domain can be registered with a set up fee of only 120 Euros, plus 14 Euros per year (2 years minimum), on the first come, first served basis.

Deloitte and Laga, frequent validation agents for other TLDs (including .EU and more recently .Asia), will use their expertise to assess your co.nl requests during the Grandfather and Sunrise Periods.

The Landrush starts on Tuesday 17th march until Tuesday 31st March 2009, and the Go Live period from Wednesday the 15th of April 2009 onward. These two last stages offer all applicants the opportunity to have their CO.NL domain name. The domain names registered during Landrush cost 16 Euros as a set up fee, with an additional 14 Euros per year (2 years minimum). The applicant will obtain the requested CO.NL domain name on a priority basis decided by the registrar. Each domain name registration during Go Live costs 14 Euros (1 Year minimum), and will be allocated on the first come, first served principle.
