FAQs
How to transfer a domain from one host to another?
If you only need to change hosting providers, update your domain’s nameservers to point to the new host. If transferring your domain registration as well, follow the standard domain transfer process: unlock the domain, get the EPP code, disable privacy protection, and initiate the transfer.
Where can I buy a domain?
You can buy your domain through a registrar, the company that manages the reservation of domain names. As an example, EuroDNS is a registrar.
The registrar takes care of the initial registration process, but also provides support with domain renewal or transfer. They are in charge of providing technical support to registrants experiencing issues related to their domain. No registrar sells all domain extensions, so you may have to check more than one registrar to find your preferred TLD. We recommend comparing the offers from several registrars whose websites you can easily find on Google.
How do I transfer a domain?
Follow these steps for a smooth domain transfer:
- Check contacts & unlock – Ensure your domain’s email contacts are up to date. Unlock your domain and request the authorization code (EPP code/transfer key) from your current registrar.
- Disable privacy protection – Your current registrar must temporarily disable privacy protection for the transfer to proceed.
- Initiate the transfer – Enter your domain name(s) in our transfer tool and submit the request.
- Confirm and wait – Approve the transfer via email if required. The process typically completes within a few days.
How long does a domain transfer take?
A domain transfer usually takes 5 to 7 days, depending on the registrars involved. However, if all steps are completed promptly, some transfers may be finalized in as little as 24 hours.
