Introducing .phone: a new domain for businesses built on connection

Sell phones, repair screens or help customers stay connected? Your next domain name could say exactly what you do. The new .phone domain extension gives telecom businesses, retailers and service providers a web address with a clear connection to their industry. It also offers businesses beyond the phone sector a memorable address for their contact or customer support pages.
The launch is now underway, with priority registration open to eligible trademark holders. Here’s who .phone could work for and when you can register yours.
Who is a .phone domain for?
Some domain extensions need an explanation. With .phone, the association is immediate. That makes it particularly relevant for:
- Telecom and VoIP providers: showcase calling plans, communication tools and connectivity services.
- Phone retailers and resellers: give your online shop an address that reflects what you sell.
- Repair businesses: create a dedicated home for repairs, quotes and appointment bookings.
- Accessory brands: build a website or campaign around phone cases, chargers and other essentials.
For a small business specialising in phones, the extension can become part of the name customers see on your storefront, packaging and advertising.
A dedicated address for getting in touch
You don’t have to sell phones to find a use for .phone.
A consultant could use it for a contact page with appointment booking. A local service business could direct visitors to opening hours and callback requests. A larger organisation could use it as a dedicated address for customer support.
You could also redirect your .phone domain to an existing contact page, giving customers a shorter address to remember and share without building another website.
The question is simple: would a dedicated contact address make it easier for customers to reach your business?
When can you register a .phone domain?
The launch takes place in three phases:
Launch phase | Dates | What it means |
|---|---|---|
Sunrise | 6 October 2026–4 January 2027 | Priority registration for eligible trademark holders, on a first-come, first-served basis. |
Early Access Program (EAP) | 5–18 January 2027 | An opportunity to register before General Availability, with additional early-access fees. |
General Availability | From 19 January 2027 | Registration opens to the general public, subject to availability and registry rules. |
All launch dates follow UTC. Phases begin at 00:00:00 and end at 23:59:59 on their respective dates.
Trademark holders: Sunrise is now open
If your trademark is recorded and validated with the Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH), you may be eligible to register a matching .phone domain during Sunrise.
This gives eligible brands an opportunity to secure their name before public registration begins. For businesses in the phone industry, it is a useful moment to consider how the extension fits into their brand protection and website plans.
Sunrise registrations are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If you intend to apply, check your eligibility and registration requirements ahead of the 4 January 2027 deadline.
Is .phone right for your business?
A .phone domain makes the most sense when it has a clear role: representing a phone-related business, supporting a relevant campaign or giving customers a dedicated way to find your contact information.
Start with the name you want and how you would use it. Then choose the registration phase that fits your eligibility, timing and budget.
